Traci is a 10 month old black and white female pit bull mix. Traci came to us as a stray and before that had been abused and has some trust issues that we are currently working with her on now. Petey is a beautiful four- five year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier that needs a loving home with someone who knows the breed and will take good care of him. He is neutered and all his shots are current including a three-year Rabies shot given in July 2010. Petey loves to snuggle, ride in the car, take long walks and of course run and play. He is very fit and fast. He gets along with most other dogs and has done well with my Border Collie Lab; they are buddies. Petey is sweet and friendly with my guests, including my niece and nephew. He has done well at the vet and with house sitters; they love him. I do not have cats so I do not know how he would be with cats. Petey was found at Lake Hefner in July 2009 while walking with my dogs and a friend. He approached us with friendly enthusiasm and after our walk he jumped in the van and came home with us. Petey has received two evaluations from professional trainers and private training. I have worked with him on leash training as well as multiple commands in the past year. My trainers recommend crate training as well as a safe and large covered pin when left outside. Petey can be energetic but mellows easily and takes direction well. We have enjoyed and loved Petey and with the right owner and home I know he will be a great dog. Xena is a very special girl, when she came into the rescue as a puppy she had a lot of problems, a dislocated hip being the major one, her recovery took a long time and she had a home lined up but it fell through, now she is available for adoption again and really looking forward to being in a forever home. Petey is a beautiful four- five year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier that needs a loving home with someone who knows the breed and will take good care of him. He is neutered and all his shots are current including a three-year Rabies shot given in July 2010. Petey loves to snuggle, ride in the car, take long walks and of course run and play. He is very fit and fast. He gets along with most other dogs and has done well with my Border Collie Lab; they are buddies. Petey is sweet and friendly with my guests, including my niece and nephew. He has done well at the vet and with house sitters; they love him. I do not have cats so I do not know how he would be with cats. Petey was found at Lake Hefner in July 2009 while walking with my dogs and a friend. He approached us with friendly enthusiasm and after our walk he jumped in the van and came home with us. Petey has received two evaluations from professional trainers and private training. I have worked with him on leash training as well as multiple commands in the past year. My trainers recommend crate training as well as a safe and large covered pin when left outside. Petey can be energetic but mellows easily and takes direction well. We have enjoyed and loved Petey and with the right owner and home I know he will be a great dog. Hi! I am with the Ford County Humane Society in Dodge City, Ks. Our shelter is between the City and the County so our neighbors are not restricted to the Pit Bull ordinance that the City has. Day after day we have watched Pantera, who has been chained to a tree. She is 8 months old, and has already mothered a litter of pups.All but one of these pups died of Parvo when they were around 10 weeks old. We also watched this, unable to help. Finally, I was able to talk the people into spaying Pantera if the Humane Society paid for the procedure. I told them their children would be in danger from all the stray males, so they agreed. Last Monday I took her into our vet and Tuesady morning she was spayed and caught UTD on her shots, as well as being HW tested. She was HW negative. The people mentioned to me they didn't want her and they had a "friend" going to Mexico that might take her along. I made them promise not to let that happen until I could see if I can find her a rescue "friend". This is an 8 month old female, black in color (I will have pics later today) weighing in at 38 pds. She has not had much of a life so far, and frankly right now it's not looking too good. We cannot take her because of the City ordinance, and when I take her back she will again be chained to "the tree". Can you please try and help Pantera?? Rufus is a 4 yr old brindle and white English bulldog, he is originally from Russia and is registered in the AKC and in a Russian registry. That being said he is absolutely N-E-U-T-E-R-E-D and looking to be nothing more than a pet. Rufus seems to be good with other dogs and he loves people. Like almost all EBDs he has some medical conditions, he has very bad skin allergies, his new family will need to be able to provide medical care such as allergy shots, medical bathes, special food and whatever else he may need. He is a very expensive, high maintenance breed and that is why he is restricted to going to a home that currently owns or has owned an EBD. Here is a little bit about me. My ears have been cut – not real jagged, but I cannot speak people talk so I cannot tell anybody how my ears came to be cropped. I have a long tail. I am a sort of greyish brown. I have a white blaze on my chest and all four paws. When I got to my foster mother's house, I went into the house like I belonged there. She thinks I have been a house dog before. She walked me through the house to her huge back yard and I went out and ran and drank and did my business. But I kept my eyes on the two legged people who were standing there watching me. Then I had to go up and hug and kiss both of them for getting me to safety. Since I did not have any collar on and of course no tags, she immediately put a collar on me. There is one thing. I do not like cats. My foster mom put me in a wire crate, and gave me a bowl of food. She was in tears when she saw how thin I was. I went into the crate against my will the first time, but after that, I found out the crate was a good place to be. I was in a room with three other dogs – two uncrated male dogs, and one crated female. The male dogs and the female dog all went up to the crate and touched noses with me and there was no growling from any of us. My teeth are like shiny pearls and my foster mom guessed my age at close to a year. My foster mom put her fingers, then her hand, then her arm into my mouth. I wasn't sure just what was going on, so I just sat there. When she took her arm out of my mouth, I licked her face. I messed in my crate once on the first full day. I have not messed in my crate since. I learned it is not nice to mess in a place I sleep in. Later on that morning, my foster mom gave me some medication. You see, I was extremely thin when I was saved. This medication was to get rid of any intestinal worms I might have. My foster mom did not gripe at me for messing in my crate. In fact, I think she was glad I did.> My foster mom found out exactly what I had been eating. Tin> foil, cardboard, a pink handi-wipe, black plastic trash (?) bag, the Bar-S strip from a package of weiners (?), and other things she could not identify. I had a firm stool. She could tell the difference on what was food from the night night and what I HAD been eating. A few days later my foster mom gave me some shots, and I was a big girl and didn't even flinch. She gave me the parvo/distemper/coronavirus vaccines, and the next day, she gave me a bordetella nasal medication. My foster mom says I have such a soft mouth. She offers me a treat, and I will put my lips around the treat and gently take it from her fingers. Since I had been without food for such a long time I dont not like to share my food with other dogs. I was hungry so long! So my foster mom feeds me in my crate so I dont have to worry about anyone stealing my food. My foster mom says I am one of the sweetest pits she has ever put her paws on. (Golly, I did not know humans had PAWS!) I like to lay outside on the patio – soaking up the sun and being at peace with the world. I was tested for heart worms and I am negative. Sham-Wow is a 4 month old male tan & black pit bull and is part of The Household Products litter. Tank is a beautiful 2 year old male American Staffordshire Terrier. He has a gorgeous brown coat that really shines in the sun. Tank was rescued from a shelter in Louisiana that brought him all the way to us here in Oklahoma to find a home for him because he is such a great dog. Tank loves to play with other dogs, is great with children, we are not sure about cats due to his size so we would prefer to place him in a home without cats. Elvis is a 2 year old french bulldog that has the most unique look to him. He has a cleft lip that is why his tooth sticks out in front a little. It was a birth defect that affects him in no way other than that he can make some unique sounds. Elvis is a very pretty brindle color that makes him stand out and he just adores people. Elvis loves to play with toys, go on walks, or just cuddle on the couch with his owners. Elvis gets along well with other dogs but is a possessive type, for example, if his owner is sitting on the couch and some other dog would get up there while Elvis is up there he would get upset. It’s not him being intentionally mean but he does have the possessiveness attitude about whoever his owner is. Sheila is a 5 month old Australian cattle dog. Sheila was found running down a country road and was not claimed. Sheila is a beautiful tri-color female that has wonderful puppy energy but also can just cuddle up on the couch at the same time with someone. Bunny is a super cute 3 year old French Bulldog. Bunny adores people, and loves attention. She was keeping the patients at the Cerebral Palsy Center company but eventually they had to find a home for Minnie or she was going to end up at the shelter so that’s when she came to our rescue. She loves attention and is very willing to please and just want’s someone to love her and give her a forever home. Minnie comes up to date on shots, micro chipped, spayed, and crate trained. She gets along with other dogs and loves to play, she is also good with children, just needs someone to take the time to work with her on some training and give her all the love she deserves. Introducing the “Wine & Spirits Litters”, for the first time we have taken in 2 litters at the same time, the older pups are currently 7 weeks old, 2 males, 4 females: Whiskey, Bourbon, Gin, Tiquila, Champange and Brandy. The younger pups are newborn, less than 1 week old there are 2 males, 2 females: Zin, Noir, Syrah and Shiraz.

The “Spirits” pups will be quarantined until the 5th, spay/neuter surgery is scheduled for the 27th, if all goes well they will be ready to go to their new homes the following week. Included in the $100 adoption fee is spay/neuter surgery (with tattoo for the girls), 2 sets of shots, 2 sets of wormer, 1 dose heart worm prevention, and microchip. To hold a certain puppy a $50 deposit is required (then only $50 due at the time of the adoption), this deposit is non-refundable except in the event is that something goes wrong with the puppy. In 2009 almost 1 MILLION pit bulls were killed in USA shelters, these dogs were not killed by Pit Pull “haters” they were killed by Pit Bull “Lovers” who bred their dogs, on purpose or on accident, for money or for fun, either way, these people are responsible for these deaths! In the future we also hope to provide low cost or free spay and neuter surgeries for Pit Bulls in our community. The goal is to have at least one clinic this year for 100 pit bulls inside Lawton City Limits.

We are going through a lot of exciting changes right now, being a “Humane Society” we will be setting up meetings with members and advisors, anyone and everyone that cares about Pit Bulls is invited to join us!
